Libyan President Muammar Qaddafi faces rape charges for allegedly encouraging his troops to sexually assault women in Libya, according to an investigation by the International Crime Court (ICC).

ICC prosecutor Luis Moreno-Ocampo said that the Libyan leader even provided soldiers with Viagra to carry out the acts.

The ICC has requested arrest warrants for Qaddafi and his son Saif al-Islam on charges of crimes against humanity.

Luis Moreno-Ocampo told reporters at the UN in New York last night there were strong indications that hundreds of women had been raped in the Libyan government clampdown on the popular uprising and that Gaddafi had ordered the violations as a form of punishment.
