Vanity Wonder (pictured in before and after shots), author of “Butt Shots,” a book on the underground world of illegal butt injections, says her reasons for undertaking the dangerous procedures are a lot more complicated and varied than most realize.

“It’s not what people think,’ she told The Daily Mail in an exclusive interview. ‘There’s no common reason… Some girls get it done only because everyone else is. There’s a lot of reasons.

“It’s not even because they didn’t already have a butt. They look in the mirror and they don’t like what they see. They want the image they see in the mirror to match the image they have of themselves in their head.”

Wonder, who has spent more than $15,000 on multiple illegal butt injections, says that she began injecting herself in 2006 and admits that she didn’t know what was being shot into her behind during the procedures.

“The first two times, I was injected by a lady… when we finally asked her [what we were being injected with], she said soybean oil. So my first two times I had no idea what I was being injected with.

“All the rest were done by [a different] lady, and it was medical grade silicone.”

Wonder says there was a noticeable difference in the substances used. The medical grade silicone, she says, makes one’s butt feel like jello, while the soybean makes it feel “hard and stiff.” Wonder says her butt feels more jello-like.

As for her book, “Butt Shots,” Wonder says she wrote it debunk the misconceptions behind why people get butt injections. She also mentioned that some of her readers still want to pursue illegal injections, even with the dangerous side affects.

‘The book review from customers has been 95 per cent positive. It is those who haven’t who are critical.’

But though some readers admit that they thought about getting black market butt injections, but now definitely won’t, others remain tempted.

‘Women are still begging me, “Please tell me where to get them from!”‘ Vanity admits. ‘They are definitely chasing this.

‘That’s the reason why women are dying. They are so thirsty for these, they go to whoever they can find. Then people want to exploit this and that’s where the problems come in.’

What stopped Wonder from injecting herself was a brush with the law that almost sent her to jail. The prospect of her two sons growing up without their mom was enough for her to curb her addiction. When asked how she feels about her body, Wonder says she is satisfied with how she looks.

‘It’s not that I feel happy, but I look in the mirror and I love who I am,’ she explained. ‘I didn’t go to jail, I have my arms and legs. I didn’t die because of the dumb crap that I did.

‘I guess I do feel happy. I’m just so thankful that I’m here in one piece, and that I’m able to tell people to stop on this path, because somebody’s going to die.’
