Hip-hop artist Nelly’s tour bus was routinely searched on Wednesday at a West Texas border checkpoint, where officers uncovered a loaded gun, heroin, and marijuana.  The “Hot in Herre” rapper now contends that he was “not aware” that a staff member was in possession of the illegal stash, reports TMZ.

When officers in Sierra Blanca, Texas, boarded the rapper’s bus, police dogs sniffed out the presence of drugs. Reportedly, law enforcement uncovered 0.64 ounces of heroin distributed among 36 small plastic bags, more than 10 pounds of marijuana, and a loaded .45 caliber pistol.

When investigators questioned Nelly and the six other members of his entourage about what they had stumbled upon, staffer Brian Keith Jones fessed up that the items belonged to him and was subsequently cuffed.

Nelly and the other remaining male staffers were released after their detainment.  The 37-year-old performer was clearly incensed over what had taken place on the bus and took to Twitter to vent:

The rapper also released a statement with regards to the incident. Nelly told TMZ:

“Neither I nor anyone else on the tour bus was aware of his decision to bring these on board. Law enforcement officials did not press charges against anyone other than that individual.”

The Sierra Blanca checkpoint is infamous for nabbing celebrities on drug-related charges.  Performers who have been caught with illegal drugs onboard their tour buses have been Snoop Dogg, Fiona Apple, Willie Nelson, and Armie Hammer.
