wesley snipes releasedAfter serving a three-year prison stint for tax evasion, actor Wesley Snipes (pictured) is no longer behind bars. The 50-year-old actor was convicted of three misdemeanor counts back in 2008 for failing to file tax returns. He lost an appeal for a retrial in 2010 which resulted in his being sentenced to 3 years at a Pennsylvania minimum security correctional institution, where he was housed with roughly 290 white-collar inmates.

Throughout his tax troubles, the married father of five had maintained his innocence, insisting that he was misled by his tax advisers.

In the past, Snipes has cared immensely about the release dates of his numerous films. But now the most important release date will take place on July 19: the day he will be set totally free.

Snipes is being released smack dab during the last days of tax filing season. Talk about irony!
