Maine Gov. Paul LePage is under fire again after making racist statements and sweeping generalizations earlier this month about Black men, calling them drug dealers who travel to the state to impregnate White women.

Politico reports that during a radio interview Tuesday on WVOM, LePage said the guillotine should be brought back so there can be public executions of drug traffickers – because legislative proposals to increase prison sentences for drug traffickers do not do enough.

From Politico:

“I think the death penalty should be appropriate for people who kill Mainers,” LePage said. “We should give them an injection of the stuff they sell.”

He said he was “appalled” at critics, such as the American Civil Liberties Union of Maine, who are angry over his comments, saying they are protecting drug traffickers.

“What we ought to do is bring the guillotine back,” he said, interrupting the hosts. “We could have public executions and we could even have which hole it falls in.”

The comments come after he said guys by the name D-Money, Smoothie, Shifty come to Maine from Connecticut and New York to sell heroin, then return home, which NewsOne reported earlier:

“Incidentally, half the time they impregnate a young white girl before they leave,” LePage added. “Which is a real sad thing because then we have another issue that we’ve gotta deal with down the road. We’re gonna make ‘em very severe penalties.”

Democratic Rep. Ben Chipman of Portland, Maine has submitted a measure to impeach Gov. Paul LePage over the Republican’s alleged abuse of power dealing with a charter school operator.

But we believe he also needs to be called on the carpet for the perpetuation of racist stereotypes, which contributes to institutional racism in the nation. Sound off in comments…
