VIDEO: Usain Bolt Sets New World Record For 100 Meters

Usain Bolt has captured another world record, winning the 100-meter race in 9.58 seconds at the world championships.

Bolt shaved 0.11 seconds off the record he set at the Beijing Olympics, beating defending champion Tyson Gay on Sunday, who set a U.S. record of 9.71 seconds.

In the fastest 100 ever, Asafa Powell earned a bronze with a time of 9.84 in Berlin.

The race had been the most anticipated event of the world championships and lived up to its billing.

Bolt won the Olympic gold in Beijing last year with a world record performance of 9.69.

    Wow, and he says he thinks he can go 9.4′s. Not to long ago people thought 9′s weren’t even possible. Still seems like he let up at the end a little. I think he needs someone as fast as him to push him to run his fastest. Props to Tyson Gay for goin 9.71 I believe. But as we can see someone even close to Bolt just makes him go faster. If Gay can get into the 9,6′s we might see Bolt in the 9.4′s. He was .02 slower from 0-20m than in Beijing on his 6.69 so with that start he could have gone 9.56. Also he was in a car wreck in April I think. He had foot surgery and missed a month or so training and they say he was only at 85% in that race. He is only like 23 also. I think he can go 9.4′s. And about his 40 yard time… Well he isn’t the fastest out of the blocks so it probably is like 3.9 at best but his break away speed would look like Forrest Gump on the field. He is like 6’4 so it takes a long time to get those long levers turning. But this might cause track to rethink how they recruit for the 100m

    I run a 4.25 i my 40 and that is after 2 broke ankles and a pin. My two mile time is 9mins 34secs. But, I am thinking i should have ran in high school…I could be faster. Oh well, I will stick to football for now. My boy Bolt has the right name…lol.
