Blagojevich-Esquire

CHICAGO – Ousted Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich says he’s “blacker than Barack Obama” and tells Esquire magazine that he was a real person in a political arena dominated by phonies.

Blagojevich, referring to the president as “this guy,” says Obama was elected based simply on hope.

“What the (expletive)? Everything he’s saying’s on the teleprompter,” Blagojevich told the magazine for a story in its February issue, which hits newsstands Jan. 19.

“I’m blacker than Barack Obama. I shined shoes. I grew up in a five-room apartment. My father had a little laundromat in a black community not far from where we lived,” Blagojevich said. “I saw it all growing up.”

The White House refused to comment.

The twice-elected Democrat was impeached and removed from office last year after federal prosecutors arrested him on corruption charges that included trying to sell Obama’s old U.S. Senate seat. He has pleaded not guilty.

Blagojevich continues to accuse prosecutors of persecuting him for routine political deals.

One of those deals, he said, was the possibility of naming Attorney General Lisa Madigan to Obama’s Senate seat in exchange for cooperation on important programs from her powerful father, Illinois House Speaker Michael Madigan.

He used an infamously coarse word to refer to the attorney general.

“If I can get this, how much do I love the people of Illinois to make that (expletive) senator?’” Blagojevich said.

Blagojevich is appearing on NBC’s “Celebrity Apprentice” this spring and his trial is expected to start later this year.

Now unlike the Harry Reid comment (which was nothing more than the truth), I think Blagojevich’s comments can be considered offensive. Since when is being poor and downtrodden commensurate with being black? While it is sad and unfortunate that a disproportionate number of people living in poverty are indeed people of color (and not just black), this status is reflective of a racist system, not an inherent fault, failure or fate of the entire race.

All this said, aren’t there more important issues for these politicians to focus on? If anything, that is what is truly offensive. If politicians focused more of their time on the economy, the wars, terrorism, healthcare, the sad state of education in this country, or a multitude of other institutional failures, perhaps we could see that change we are all hoping for and believing in!!!

Sooo is he saying in order to know what poor is like you have to be black? That is the most offensive shyt i ever heard. Just cause you shined shoes doesn’t mean black folks did that too. Maybe he needed to shine shoes instead of all this corruption he has caused. So because his daddy owned a laundromaut in a black neighborhood that makes him blacker than any one else. Dude is seriously off his rocker. White folks need to watch what they say because it’s making all of us look stupid!

Theres that word(Black)again,Let’s get the definition of the word Black:Of color of soot or coal, without light, very dark:as a black night, having dark skin, hair and eyes, the black race of mankind, soilded:dirty, dismal:gloomy:as black despair, threatening:sullen,as black looks,Evil,Wicked,as black deeds, black magic, the color of coal, the opposite of white, the darkest color, black clothes,as dressed in black,A Negro:A person of any dark skinned race,to make black:to soil,to dirty,to polish with blacking,as to black a pair of shoes.

As to black a pair of shoes i guess he is black, this is nothing more than your typical sterotype propaganda.

Let me break down the word black in simple terms.
    Black: Dark pigment.
Being called black by others: Ignorant.
Being called black in the early 20th century: Your ass whooped.
Being called black: A creation of excluding people and being racist.

Dang! theres a lot of dictionary and thesaurus on here lol. Here’s my problem with folks and their etymology rhetoric.Individuals reacting exactly how they are conditioned by the white supremacist system, by taking offense every chance they can get.First of all, all that Merriam definition of black is garbage. Black is power, rich, and it is connected to a higher realm. KMT by definition is black city, not just because of its people but the richness of its soil. Hence, the connection of black people to the earth and god’s creation. The pigmentation the European calls a melanin is carbon dioxide and it is alive inside you just like photosynthesis in plants.Only those that get offended by the word black are the once conditioned to look at themselves as African-American.

regarding the article, I looked at it in a different light.I believe he didnt mean it as a racist remarks. As he mentioned, he grew up in the same community and experienced the same hardship as our people. I think he understood the black experience by being on the same place at the same time, and for being an immigrant that have to work hard to get where he wants to get. Of course, he will never experience the systematic oppression because the establishment still see his skin and background as non-threatening. however, he made valid point as far as the black experience in this land and we are unfairly treated by the system. We all know that the black experience comes in many forms. however, last time i check we live in the Ununited States of Amerikkka, and truth be told we are worst than we were less than 50 years ago.

Therefore, in no way I will take offense in such remarks especially written by an AP writer. The former governor is just stating that his experience is much more closer to the black experience, and that he can empathize more to our struggle than Obama can.Lets be real, Blogojevich came from a humble immigrant beginnings and brought up around our folks.Obama was brought up by his white mother and her wealthy family. Obama said it himself he didnt know he was black and the black experience until he went to Occidental College in Orange County, Ca. Obama was raised by his grandparents, whos grandfather is one of the most powerful executives in hollywood.yet, all we ever heard was his mother and grandmother. in addition, the man is blood related to the Kerrys, Bush’s, Chaney’s etc.

So who would feel for you more? a man that grew up around us or a man that married into us?

Black people are perfectly stupid suck-ups to Obama and the Do-Nothing Democrats. I am a black man and a socialist, but lately I think I am going to vote Republican from now on until the Democrats can get candidates with cojones. I am disgusted by the way black people are buying into Obama’s bull. Obama don’t care about black people. Obama is just a Chicago politician. Obama is gratified that he is light skinned. Obama, like most light skinned people, feel privileged that white people give them their table scraps. House Negros is the better term for these people. I am light skinned and I often do not speak with a “Negro dialect”, but I would never knock my own kind for some hootie snooty, uppity yuppies. I love being black and I love everything about my blackness, even our “Negro Dialect”. Harry Reid is just mad because he has a very small p***s and no depth in his voice which is usually the result of a very small p***s.

Reid’s comments make me feel more separatist. White people are not better than us and black people should not have to conform to whatever white people want as if they were better than us. Please. Si’l vous plait. The only way black people will not have to deal with the bulls**t in this country is through total separation and solidarity for the brown skinned, peppercorn hair race. We need an Adolph Hitler. Why do we still feel that we have to conform to what white people want from us? It is crazy.

For the last time – OBAMA IS NOT LIGHT-SKINNED – he is half WHITE people! It is clear that the racism is on and Obama is in a position where he cannot say too much on it. Blagoovich is not even an American name, but he get’s into the race card too? This is why many presidents have had hit squads before they get into the White House. This is why I say that blacks MUST have a PLO style response to these types of comments. Take heads off and the next one will think really hard before “mis-speaking.”
