SAN DIEGO — Ousted Agriculture Department employee Shirley Sherrod says she will sue a conservative blogger who posted an edited video of her making racially tinged remarks last week.

Sherrod made the announcement Thursday in San Diego at the National Association of Black Journalists annual convention.

The edited video posted by Andrew Breitbart led Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack to ask her to resign, a decision he reconsidered after seeing the entire video of her March speech to a local NAACP group. In the full speech, Sherrod spoke of racial reconciliation and lessons she learned after initially hesitating to help a white farmer save his home.

Vilsack and President Barack Obama later called Sherrod to apologize for her hasty ouster. Vilsack has offered her a new job at the department, which she is still considering.

She should take him for every penny!

    Abso-effin-lutely!

And what is so upsetting but not at all surprising.. is how the media forum responsible for verifying the validity of that video BEFORE broadcasting it had made no move to apologize for their role in upsetting this woman’s career and life.
What I will say is: Fox News, Glenn Beck have once again given an example of how brazen and desperate they will be in the hopes of tearing down a strong black individual making a difference. Good Job.

The NAACP had the entire tape so why didn’t support Shirley. Her name had never been mentioned on any Fox News program before the White House fired her. What grounds does she have to sue Breitbart.

As she should. I wish I’d won my lawsuit b/c I, like many other Blacks, went through a similar situation on a job.

Wait a minute…In reality, shouldn’t she be suing the USDA for wrongful termination? Think about what this guy did? he edited a a speech, EVERYONE else drew conclusions and ran with it. When you think about what he did, REPORTERS do that crap all the time. This is how media works. This suit is more symbolic than anything, nothing will come of it. “Take him for every penny he has?” I swear, some of ya’ll are living in La La Land!!!

Well she can sue him for damaging her image. He edited the tape to make her look racist, and it cause her to lose her job. Basically Breitbert was the cause of it all and that’s the person (in my opinion) who she should be going after.

Breitbart’s editing was done with deliberate, calculated and malicious intent to cause harm, to malign Sherrod’s reputation and to distort the truth. She lost her job, was publicly humiliated and her reputation was unduly tainted. In the eyes of the law, this woman must be made whole again. She has a good case.

The tape wasn’t edited, it was excerpted. Breitbart didn’t have the full tape The NAACP, who didn’t stand by her, did

  • http://www.blackplanet.com/Real_bumbleclot/ Real_bumbleclot

I’m sure Breitbart saw the full tape before he showed the part he wanted everybody to see. If the NAACP was the only one’s with the tape, that means they gave Breitbart the part of the tape where Shirley Sherrod was sounding racist. It don’t make sense for the NAACP to do that because Breitbert was also trying to make the NAACP look like a racist group. Not to mention that the night Shirley Sherrod was fired, Breitbart himself said on Hannity that the tape would prove that the NAACP is a racist group. Funny how after the real tape came out Fox news didn’t talk about it anymore.

[...] Shirley Sherrod Will Sue Right Wing Blogger Andrew Breitbart [...]

Andrew Breitbart will soon discover that it’s true that you reap what you sow. You can’t make a living by being a false witness, in attempt to make something you want to happen through deceit and manipulation. I would say to Mr. Breitbart that he should never forget the fact that there is a God who watches over us everyday. And for sure, He is a God of justice. Additionally, Mrs. Sherrod shouldn’t stop at suing Breitbart; she should include the Fox News channel in her lawsuit as well.
