Black children in Amerikka are capable of phenomenal success–if all of the variables needed are available to them. Many black children ARE representative of this.

However, I do contend that our black children would excel in “record numbers” when THEIR PARENTS prioritize education as a tool and vessel in steering them towards academic excellence and not at “my baby can rap his or her ass off” as odoggz asked. We continue in-fighting over “stupid chit.” Sadly, not ENOUGH of our black parents are representative of this in examining the stats that are reflected. Not prioritizing education is simply another problem in the plethora of problems that we, as black people face.

Last evening, I was very graced to be able to listen in on ‘two old heads,” formerly of the Black Panthers. These two brothas were bombarded with questions comparing the “here and now” from “yester-years.” I stand in agreement with these old heads. Many of us HAVE “fallen off.” No one can take away the direct benefit of education unless WE, as black people allow it or “challenge” it. YOUR tax dollars are being used to (1) educate the off-spring of illegal aliens (and no, I am not politically correct–it is just a catch-all term for “playing nice, I give LESS than a rat’s arse, I care about the plight of our black people) (2) English as a “second language” has become the “majority and priority” (2)schools, especially in the inner arenas of Amerikka are being built—NOT for our children, but for the off-spring of illegal aliens. This scenario is being “permeated” several times over in the urban arena. Yet…many of us remain “sleeping.”

Parents do not have to be rocket-scientists to dedeuce that their children are NOT being properly prepared from a scholastic stand-point. Monitor classrooms, demand adequate classroom supplies, BE present at meetings that will have a direct affect on your child(ren). WATCH “perceptions” about your child which can lead to less than acceptable attitudes from educators.

Black parents have been taken for granted for so long when the educating of our children comes into focus. THINK. From post slavery right on up to civil rights? It was NEVER meant for our black children to become educated. And when segregation in schools was deemed unlawful, black chilren were not given quality materials for the process of learning. Now the euro-clowns are “allowing” the influx of illegal immigrants to not only marginalize our black people, but to support our people as well.

The curve will straighten only when WE DEMAND excellence for and from our children. The local politicians that YOU put in office are mere “showpieces” in many of our black communities and should be called to task if they are not representing our best interests.

There are so many black children that are VERY intelligent and geniuses within poverty stricken communities!

An A-level math exam in lLondon is the equivalent to an university math exam. This was taken and and passed by two seven year olds. This was not just two seven year olds taking and passing a test on their grade level. Where is that common at? It happens, but it’s not common. That’s what’s amazing about the story. And even if it was, it’s still to be celebrated. We should always celebrate children when they do well. It’s called positive reinforcement. So whether a university exam or a test in second grade, why can’t we encourage, praise, uplift our youth instead of downplaying their achievements? in response to “what is so amazing about this story?” Not to mention you contradict yourself. In on line you’re wondering what’s amazing about the story and in another one, it’s a great story…which is it?

I love it!!!! This really has brightened up my day. These two young kids represent our hope for the future. I want to see more of this. There is unlimited POWER in knowledge.

I am very glad it was inner city kids too! So many times we are writing off especially black young boys. As a long time tutor I was always suprised at how smart we really are. The biggest problem with inner city kids was never being smart enough it was behavioral. Sitting still long enough and applying themselves is where the real problem to me lies. Media forces us to focus on things that are frankly not worth our time. Its good to see what we are truyly capable of. We invented math and these boys are proof.

We are VERY much capable of achieving what we want, but the truth is, we are Programmed to think/act other than self. That’s not an excuse, its a fact. There are many charter schools, black male only schools, etc. across this country that have been highly successful outside of the framework of the PS system. The Public school system is poison, and the American Federation of Teachers are the chief administrators of this poison. As you know, most rich successful white and black folk wouldn’t think twice about sending their children to ANY PS in the States. As you know, the vast majority of white and black folks with some money, wouldn’t dare send their children to many if any public school system in the US. I think it’s safe to say, that they know what time it is!

Peter and Paula, from Waltham Forest, London, attend an ordinary state primary school but have already received provisional offers from more than 12 top secondary schools.

Dubbed the “Wonder Twins”, they hit the headlines when they set three world records by passing A/AS-level maths papers aged seven.

They became the youngest candidates ever to pass an A-level maths paper, the youngest ever school pupils to pass the A-level maths paper as previous title holders had been home schooled, and the youngest ever twins to achieve this level in mathematics anywhere in the world.

A year later they took and passed the University of Cambridge’s Advanced Mathematics (FAM) paper, becoming the youngest students ever to pass the rigorous examinations.

The twins, who take part in the Excellence in Education programme for inner-city children, have also co-authored a book with their primary school classmates – with proceeds going to charities and their school.

Their father Chris Imafidon said: “We’re delighted with the progress they have made.”

He said the youngsters would be fine at secondary school, despite the age difference with their peers.

SIDEBAR: I am so intensely proud of these children and give their parents a standing ovation. True education cannot only occur in the home. It must be an intricately woven element of the home experience. Then, and only then, will our children receive an authentic education.

So true. Black people, unlike whites, fail to see and encourage the greatness in their children. For example, if they see a boy child that likes dolls, that doesn’t necessarily mean he’s Gay. He could become a top clothing designer. Or if they see a girl that likes to play store, she could excel in the world of finance. We must pay closer attention to our children. Many of their dreams have evaporated because of parents that are too involved with themselves and not involved enough with their children.

I’m so happy when blackplanet actually does a positive story about black people. It bothers me that there are some people who manage to read a positive story like this and turn it into something negative about African Americans. There are plenty of African American students who perform above their grade level. I think some of you all making these negative comments are just white supremacist in disguise trying to start a bunch of stuff. You need to take your fake selves to whiteplanet. And talk that stuff to somebody that’s stupid enough to believe it. The media is always trying to perpetuate the myth that black children who excel are said to be actin white but they can’t prove it because it never happens.

Nigeria drills Education into their children and drill the Country’s Resources into their private pokects. The useless christmas bomber is a good example. He lacked nothing but an over achievement not rooted in reality(I have nothing against his or any religion its what he did that pissed me off). His father had nothing to teach him but was busy sucking the country dry. There are more stories like this but due to the greed of the few, all you often hear about are the sufferings and hardship which continues since 1960. This is a wake up call for African Americans dancing around their victory instead of taking it.

That’s a great start! Every child has potential but not every teacher is interested in our children’s potential. A child’s earliest experience of disparate treatment is in the classroom. There’s millions of blacks that don’t come into their own due to environment and financial circ**stances.
I’ve never met a lazy black person but I’ve met many who’ve felt defeated and just stopped trying. We need to encourage those who continue to strive as well as those who’ve lost their way.

There’s nothing to tell us that this kids are not only of African roots but of Nigerian parentage. Congrats guys, keep it up and I know more good news will keep coming up now and again.

This is an excellent story and proves that great education is a joint effort by the educators and parents. One without the other is useless. It also proves that it’s not necessary to enroll your children in a private and/or catholic school and that public schools, if given the opportunity, can and does serve the same purpose.

Children in Britain started high school around the age of 11 to 12 and graduated at the age of 16/17. Some time they go straight to universities or they have what we called a gap year which is one year free from school. For a gap year they either work, volunteer or do both. Every single members of my family born there or not done extremely well in Britain. All have great jobs making beyond the minimum wages and own homes and most of us grew up in the hood.

True that Africans instill education in their children first like the Asians do too but Black British children including mine done extremely well too. In Britain most children always get praise in any high achievements in schools they accomplished and teachers/headmasters will always reported it to the parents/guardians. Disrupted children who we know always end up in special schools or have no future leading to a life of crime, drug abuse, prisons, welfare and babies while still young themselves are given chances with the help of support teachers to nurtures them and their talents. This prevent them from dropping out of schools, leading a better life onward to a bright future. In Britain the most important thing about education is that parents/guardians are their child/children first teachers before they enter the school system. You are right about sports should be second after education.

You write some of the most negative comments I’ve ever read in my life.
Why must you always resort to some sort of name calling and/or insult to get your point across. You can still be heard without all the negativity you portray.
I didn’t want to overshadow the accomplishments made by these young children by fontfighting with anyone, but I just can’t continue to sit here and say nothing!

Gots to agree with you bro. The world is all about race. When was the last time an Indian or Chinese walked into your shop that you set up 20 years ago? That question was asked by a friend of mine yesterday. Yes this is great news. In Canada African Canadians hold the highest doctorate in the country, even higher for ones coming from Jamaica and the African continent. We have seen education levels rise in the community but also poverty. This is causing some to believe that education is still not enough. The racism in Toronto is there and alive. The majority of it directed to Blacks. Not just from members of the white community but also Indians, Chinese, Mexicans etc. A York University study recently concluded that many people in the city view racism as wrong, but were more open to it when it was directed towards Blacks. I could understand why IHATEINTERRACIAL has that view. And it is very well worth looking into. Nothing is negative in this forum but thought provoking and i love when someone throws a wrench into mainstream thinking. Black people as a whole in North America seem pretty naive and seem to beg friend from people who despise them. I find it extremely embarrassing and demeaning. Interracial has done nothing for our community even after over 400 years of interracial “sex” (as that’s basically what it was). There are problems, yes I know Black women aint perfect, and many times annoying, but I would rather the familiar problem lying beside me than a new one. And to base that as a reason to go elsewhere is just weak for any man to do. And its a weak excuse for women as well. This is a very good story and I was happy it was printed here, because the main media wouldn’t cover it even tho they cover the lesser and more insignificant achievements of whites.
