ALBANY – Gov. Paterson Tuesday morning tried to downplay his disagreement with President Obama’s decision to hold the 9/11 terror trial in New York City.

Paterson on Monday said he’d prefer the trial not be held in the city, a reversal of a statement he made last week in which he supported the president’s decision.
Appearing on a radio show hosted by Daily News columnist Errol Louis, Paterson said while he would have preferred the trial be held elsewhere, the decision is made and New York will assist the federal government any way it can.

“We don’t need to spend a lot of time on this,” he said on WWRL 1600. “The decision is made. That’s the president’s decision. We’re Americans. We will follow the decision and we’ll trust the President.”
Paterson blamed the media for trying to play up his disagreements with the Obama in an attempt to sell papers in a bad economy.
