I say yes bring it back even though in some places it never stopped. The learning part would be a question(IN MY OPINION)because you got children who eat ALL 3 meals and still are not learning much. I would have to say with that good meal,a good school system,good parents,and a good community will play the role of a child who want to learn…do better.(JMO)

Feeding little poor kids from the hood was a threat to national security.

Actually the greatest threat was doing for ourselves rather than running to the Government for a Federal Grant to fund it. When you get someone to fund your venture, you have to abide by their rules which gives them control over the entire project. This is why those of you who continue to look to Government for handouts is EXACTLY what they want us to do. Look to them to solve our problems.

By the way RK Byers. To your comment concerning breakfast being the most important meal of the day, and children are lethargic and slower without it. That may or may not be true, but I don’t think that changes if we start feeding these children frosted flakes, Fruit punch and various other popular foods that are loaded with Partially Hydrogenated oils, Trans and saturated fats, aspartame etc. These ingredients have been proven without a doubt to cause those same symptoms and worse! So this is a multi-faceted problem. We need HIGH QUALITY breakfast foods. Now that Mrs. O is back from her vacations, maybe she can start to get serious about her campaign against childhood obesity. But honestly, if she isn’t addressing the poisons in our foods, she might as well just leave it alone and go on another vacation, because it won’t help telling kids to eat less portions. Less poison is still poison!

Unless these schools can serve these growing kids GREAT breakfastses, the kids will not be focused, learn well. or become productive students….with families losing jobs and the economy sucking more and more, the LAST thing we ned to deny is the nutrition along with the education of out FUTURE citizens…..

Bring back? Here in Boston nad it’s surrounding cities, fee breakfast is available to all children year round.

i dont know if it was making a difference in intelligence,,,but im all for feeding these babies(i call kids around 5 and younger babies) who might not eat if it wasnt for this program. And who cares about if ppl think they might shut it down,,,do the program anyway until that problem presents itself,,,u never know til its done! I think alot of people tend to think if u get groups of ppl like “black panthers” or something similar to that in other races,,,u get ppl with logical thinkin who just wanna move their race, heritage & culture forward, but there are also members who only care for their own, fk all the rest & have racist views. That can set things back and instead of people focusing on the positive, their focusing on the ones who might bring negativity. All it takes is 1 person to over shadow what hundreds or more are trying to do.

who is going to pay for this program? taxpers pay 93 billion a year for welfare and hosting illegals in this country .
38% of illegals in this country recieve welfare, and pay no taxes, on the other hand we have young black woman who get welfare/housing and seem to never leave the system, generations of people.
we don’t need an other social program, if anything we need to get these men/woman who have children to step up by all means, and for young people to understand that education opens a big world ready for them to explore, and change, this might help slow down the amount of young blackmen entering prisons.
my concern is with black people since this is a black site and i’m black and see the fall out from welfare.
the only people that should get welfare are those that paid into the system for at least 10 years, handicapped, all others who recieve housing/food stamps,ect should have to work for the city ,state,or federal goverment, doesn’t matter at what capacity, but understand you have to work.

@Catt11Mann. Correct me If I’m wrong, but was the original BPP program a social program? If so, the cost of this would probably be a minimal, HOWEVER, I would personally prefer to see this be a community based program fully funded by donations solicited from businesses that we support and/or pooling together our nickels and dimes. Doesn’t have to be a FED, STATE thing, just local or even just on your block!

I’m all for bringing the breakfast program back, including the panthers as well because the way things are being taken in the community is just utterly ridiculous.

Yes! I’M 100% in FAVOR of healthy eats, solid education and to awaken pride of culture in young souls. I don’t have school children of my own, but when I do..I will feed mine at home and teach my child to pray – the schools system can stay out of it.

Welfare is NOT the reason YOU nor I pay HIGH TAXES and you will have to pay taxes if it wasn’t any welfare. The government use that walfare line to make it seem like thats what you are paying taxes for…do you know what the government spend our tax money on really? Let me just say its their damnself. Have you ask why they need a 3,4,5 bedroom with gust rooms mansion plus pool house with everything in and around it? When most of them only have 2 or maybe 3 children who don’t live at home. Or why do they feel the need to wear $500.oo hundred dollar suits,$100.oo dollar shirt and tie,$200.00 or $300.00 dollar shoes? Driving every new make and model car or sports car that come out and riding in a limo…eating $100.00 plus dollar meals? And don’t leave off their paid trips ALL DONE BY TAXPAYERS MONEY. Plus people on welfare pay taxes too. When you sit down with someone who has less to nothing and you get the real facts and not the media lie you will understand and come to the terms welfare is not to blame for HIGH TAXES.
