NYT: White House To The Obamas: Sorry, We’re Booked

From the New York Times:

“The White House has turned down a request from the family of President-elect Barack Obama to move into Blair House in early January so that his daughters can start school on Jan. 5.”

“The Obamas were told that Blair House, where incoming presidents usually stay in the five days before Inauguration Day, is booked in early January, a spokesperson to the Obama transition said. ‘We explored the idea so that the girls could start school on schedule,’ the spokesperson said. ‘But, there were previously scheduled events and guests that couldn’t be displaced.’

“It remained unclear who on Bushes guest list outranked the incoming President.”

    If the norm is for the incoming President to occupy the space, I don’t care who is booked, he and his family should be accommodated.

    This is truly the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard. This goes to show that Black folks, no manner what their station is in life, have no rights that white folks have to respect.

    I pray this will change with an Obama presidency.

    Yes Barrack cares for this country but now it’s time for the american people to care about one another.How? by starting right now feeding the homeless, helping an elderly person to the grocery store or driving them to see the doctor in you new car. Start doing things in your community now! I believe when the Bush family see these acts, they will surely know that americans are serious! Action speaks!
