Death Row founder and Hip-Hop heavyweight, Suge Knight, has re-emerged on the scene as comedian Katt Williams’ tour manager. And according to him, the funnyman is just a sensitive celebrity being harassed by fans, going through a “rough spell” that comes with success.

TMZ reports:
Suge — who was present for Katt’s most recent arrest in Seattle following a bar fight — tells TMZ, Katt’s recent string of bizarre behavior was the result of fan harassment … “People test him because he’s small and the best comedian of all time.”
Suge says fans forget Katt’s a real person with real feelings … and Katt lashes out as a result, when people mock him on the street, making jokes about his hair and calling him short.
Suge tells us, “When people see him, they don’t separate the Katt Williams on stage from the Katt Williams just being a regular person.”Suge compares Katt’s “rough spell” to Mike Tyson’s and Richard Pryor’s — “That’s what happens when you’re the best in the business. Sometimes you just have rough times.”
As previously reported by NewsOne, Williams retired on a Seattle street after a string of run-ins with the law.
See retirement announcement below:
He has since come out of retirement and faces felony evasion charges stemming from leading police on a chase while driving a motorized tri-cycle, assault charges stemming from slapping a target employee in the face and a lawsuit stemming from his now infamous breakdown during an alleged drug fueled Oakland performance.
While Knight claims Williams is just “sensitive,” a former friend of the comedian, speaking exclusively to NewsOne under condition of anonymity, tells a different story:
Katt was diagnosed as Bipolar I when he was involuntarily checked into a mental institution several years ago. He refuses to take medication and instead uses narcotics, which exacerbates the condition. Some mentally ill take out their demons on themselves but Katt projects his pain externally as we’ve seen play out when he goes in on hecklers in his audience. If you know his career trajectory extending all the way back to his room at the Hollywood Casino, you’d know he never went “in” on people who came to see his shows – that’s for comedians who don’t have any material.
Unfortunately, Katt no longer has material because he’s in such a dark place he can’t come up with jokes. It speaks to the greed of Live Nation that they would even continue to book him shows being aware of his illness and drug use, and letting him embarrass himself on camera in front of the world. I hope he can find professional help otherwise we will wake up one day to hearing of his death either via suicide or homicide.
