A terminally ill 6-year-old girl has been living her dream of becoming a police officer.

Khyrstin Andrews (pictured), who is fighting stage 4 kidney cancer, previously told her mother that she wanted to pull somebody over as an officer.

Fortunately, Andrews goes to the same church as a Texas Department of Public Safety trooper, where she continually expressed her interest. After a few calls, Andrews received a Houston Police Department uniform in her size along with a hat, boots, belt and spurs.

In July, HPD Chief Of Police Charles A. McClelland Jr. made Andrews an honorary HPD officer. In October, DPS gave her honors and made her an honorary state trooper. She has accompanied the force for a few months now.

Andrews has gotten to ride the HPD’s mounted patrols and a DPS helicopter. And finally, she pulled over a speeder, the Houston Chronicle reports. Last month, she visited Governor Rick Perry’s office and sat in his chair.

According to Andrews’ mother  Marla Jones, the young woman is currently undergoing a stronger round of chemotherapy for her cancer, which was diagnosed in 2012. The cancer has spread to her lungs.

Jones says she is extremely thankful for how the police came together for her daughter.

“The way the departments came together as one unit to help Kyssi is just amazing,” Jones said. She is trying to raise awareness for pediatric cancer and wishes September, Cancer Awareness Month, received more attention.

“October is breast cancer awareness month and the whole world turns pink for it. Gold is the color for Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, and I would love the world to turn gold for one month, too,” she added.

Andrews’ older siblings say they are amazed by her resolve, Jones shared. She is living with one kidney and two partial lungs, but she maintains a positive spirit throughout. Her Facebook page already has over 180,000 likes.

Here’s to you, Khyrstin!
