Kanye West dragged the entire fashion industry out to Roosevelt Island for his Yeezy Season 4 presentation on Wednesday. Models reportedly fainted, attendees were kept waiting for nearly two hours, and at the end of it, many were not impressed with the collection itself.
Jessica Iredale, a fashion writer at Women’s Wear Daily, was especially unimpressed. The industry expert absolutely blasted ‘Ye in her review of his new line, going so hard on him that the writeup has gone viral.
“To a great extent, fashion and the press have only ourselves to blame. We’ve been world-class enablers of Kanye West, allowing him to put us at his mercy,” she writes, adding, scathingly, that “Adidas should be embarrassed” of its collaboration with the rap icon.
Iredale clearly didn’t appreciate the venue, either. “Round-trip, the event clocked in at about four-and-a-half hours. This is behavior that would not be tolerated from true design visionaries — Karl Lagerfeld or West’s friend Riccardo Tisci. Not that they would display such audacious disrespect for people’s time.”
