Joe Biden Contemplates 2020 Presidential Run

Displeased with the results of the 2016 presidential election, many people are focused on who they would like to see run for office in 2020. Some are pushing soon-to-be former Vice President Joe Biden to run, and there may be a chance that it could happen. During a press conference on Capitol Hill Monday following a Senate vote on regulations related to health research, Biden was asked if he would run for office again. “Yeah, I am. I’m going to run in 2020,” he said. “For what?” replied the reporter. “For president. What the hell, man, anyway,” said Biden. When asked if he was joking, Biden reportedly took a long pause and said, “I’m not committing not to run. I’m not committing to anything. I learned a long time ago fate has a strange way of intervening.” Biden was considering running for office this year; however, he decided to put those plans on hold so that he could mourn the loss of his son Beau, who lost his battle with brain cancer in 2015. D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser Meets With Donald Trump

President-elect Donald Trump had a sit-down with District of Columbia Mayor Muriel Bowser at the Trump Tower office in New York on Tuesday. During the meeting, which was requested by Mayor Bowser, the two engaged in a “wide-ranging discussion” about what’s on the horizon for D.C. Bowser said she called the meeting because there needed to be “some mending of relationships” between Donald Trump and the District of Columbia; a city that showed an outpouring of support for Hillary Clinton during the presidential election. “We talked about the things that are important to Washingtonians, and certainly becoming the 51st state is one of them,” said Bowser after the meeting. “Actually, the one thing I know emphatically that he said is that he is a supporter of the District of Columbia, he’s familiar with the District of Columbia, and he wants to be supportive.” Bowser shared that Trump showed a genuine interest in wanting to help the city evolve. Jay Z’s Kalief Browder Docuseries To Debut At Sundance

Jay Z’s docuseries about the story of Kalief Browder will make its debut at the Sundance Film Festival next year. The series, titled Time: The Kalief Browder Story, will delve into the life of the 22-year-old from the Bronx who was falsely arrested at the age of 16 for robbery and spent three years behind bars without a conviction. After being released from Rikers Island in 2013, Browder committed suicide. His story brought attention to a flawed justice system. “We’re the voice,” said Jay Z during an interview about the series. “We’re society. We affect change. We can change everything. … Our voices are stronger than ever. If everyone in this room is like, ‘I don’t agree with this happening to a 16-year-old,’ then it won’t happen again. It’s that simple.” The 2017 Sundance Film Festival is slated to kick off on January 19 in Utah. Read more.
