After the shooting deaths of Renee Good and Alex Pretti, state and federal legislators have moved to curb ICE’s tactics and use of face masks.

In 2025, ICE tripled the number of arrests it made from the year before. Of the nearly 400,000 people detained, 40% had no criminal record.

Separate polls find that most Americans disapprove of ICE's tactics and believe Kristi Noem should be removed from her job.

The bill funds most federal agencies through September, but only provides funding for DHS, TSA, and FEMA through next week.

Noem announced that federal officers—long resistant to the very transparency demanded of local police—would begin wearing body-worn cameras.

Lede Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche announced the DOJ will conduct a civil rights investigation in the death of Alex Pretti.

Maher Tarabishi was the primary caregiver for his ill son before he was detained by ICE agents last year during a routine immigration check-in.

The Republican senator also posted that she asked Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem to pause operations in Minnesota as well.

The ruling blocks a recently announced Trump administration policy aiming to remove the legal status of some 5,600 lawful refugees in Minnesota.

Sources say Alex Pretti suffered a broken rib during a previous encounter with federal immigration agents about a week prior to his death.

Observers in Maine say federal agents, some wearing masks and tactical gear, have shown up to their homes to threaten them with arrest.

ICE’s immigration crackdown in Minnesota has led to several lawsuits against the agency, including one seeking to halt the crackdown in the state.
