The recent oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico is one of many man-made environmental disasters that this country has produced in its history.

NEW ORLEANS— Cleanup and containment of a massive oil slick resumed Tuesday as winds eased in the Gulf of Mexico and people along beaches and bayous waited to find out just how badly it might damage the delicate coast.

VENICE, Louisiana — BP PLC said Monday that it will pay for all the cleanup costs from a massive oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico that could continue spewing crude for at least another week.
