The Black Ballot – Episode 18: Deplorable Democracy
Misinformation, Disinformation, and Fake news has been proven to target Black Voters in the 2016 Election. In addition, the electoral college was set up with racist roots which in part is why despite Hillary winning the popular vote she lost. Trump’s victory to the White House energized his radical base who showed up without their hoods in Charlottesville, VA. White Supremacist Hate groups quickly rose over 50% during this Presidency and President Trump would often give affirmations to them about where he stands with this tweets and public comments. Day to day White House business was now a daily conversation when the Oval office became a reality show in itself with a revolving door of cabinet members and advisors who either quit or were fired. Once the best ever Trump would vilify them and declare they are now the worst. He continues to brag that he is the best President for Black Americans since Lincoln but his record is not as cut and dry as he would lead the American public to believe. Trump normalized his rhetoric and that in itself is proving to be the biggest danger to African Americans to this day.
