The sports world has been hit with new charges and allegations regarding rape and three popular players.

Derrick Rose, star point guard for the NBA’s Chicago Bulls, has been sued for sexual assault for allegedly gang raping his ex-girlfriend, Bleacher Report writes.

The woman, known only as Jane Doe in the court documents, claims she dated the player from 2011 to 2013. According to the lawsuit, the relationship began to crumble after the 26-year-old allegedly wanted her to engage in group sex with her friends and strangers. In August 2013, their relationship ended entirely when Rose and two of his friends reportedly slipped a drug into the woman’s drink with the intent of raping her.

The woman says she was taken home by a girlfriend, but Rose and his friends broke into her apartment later and raped her. She says she waited two years to file the suit in fear of her conservative parents’ thoughts on the ordeal.

Rose’s spokesperson called the lawsuit outrageous in a statement to SportsBusiness Journal’s Liz Mullen:

“The plaintiff’s allegations are completely false and without any factual basis, the spokesperson told Mullen. “This is nothing more than a desperate attempt to shake down a highly respected and successful athlete. Mr. Rose was in a non-exclusive, consensual sexual relationship with the plaintiff for over two years. The plaintiff expressed no complaints about Mr. Rose until various lawyers began to surface and demand that the plaintiff be paid millions of dollars. … This is the third lawyer the plaintiff has retained in this matter. Two years have passed since Mr. Rose ended the consensual relationship with the plaintiff, and her claims are as meritless now as they were two years ago. We have complete confidence that the case will be dismissed and that Mr. Rose will be vindicated. This lawsuit is outrageous.”

The woman is seeking unspecified damages. Meanwhile, the Bulls declined to comment, but acknowledged the lawsuit.

Elsewhere, former NFL San Francisco 49ers player Ray McDonald has been indicted in a rape case from last December. The former defensive lineman was officially charged with one count of rape of an intoxicated person. Current linebacker Ahmad Brooks was also charged with misdemeanor sexual battery for an alleged assault against the same woman. The woman claimed she fell and hit her head near the pool area at McDonald’s home during a party. Before McDonald sexually assaulted her, she was groped by Brooks.

McDonald was released by the team following the incident, while Brooks remained. Since becoming a free agent, McDonald said the woman ruined his reputation and sued her for defamation of character in March.

The 49ers’ general manager Trent Baalke read a statement about Brooks’ future with the team. Via The Huffington Post:

“The organization is aware that a misdemeanor charge has been filed against Ahmad Brooks stemming from a December 2014 matter. We take any charge against a member of this organization seriously and are in communication with the NFL.”

Following the charges against Brooks, the team sent him home before their upcoming preseason game against the Denver Broncos on Saturday.
