The Olympics bring alot of money and maybe some of it can be used for better clinics and housing. It just depends on whose controlling the purse strings so maybe they should be looking at that instead of protesting the Olympics which really is a waste of time anyhow.

there are pros and cons to this. Pros it can bring more money to chicago’s economy. Cons with the way the economy is now is it really wise to have an event that would cost millions to host??

Do you know how many immediate jobs this would create? not to mention the focus it would bring to chicago. I’m pretty sure we wouldn’t be trying to get a bid for an event that would put us further into debt. Where are people getting their information from suggesting that we would go into debt and that hosting the olympic games would not make way for better clinics. I’m confused a bit here….

These people are silly. When the games went to LA it lead to better housing being built for the games that were converted to affordable housing for the working-class residents once the games were over. That is the main reason for cities bidding to get the games because they get outside funding to help build things in their city that the city gets to keep once the games are over.

I’m black from Chicago, not a racist and NO I did not want the Olympics. We have a state filled with corrupt politicians including the ones that Obama supports. Huge amounts of crime, corruption, a terrible school system, the highest state taxes in the country. Our piece of trash Mayor leased the parking meters for 75 years, now you have to pay about 6 dollars an hour to use them. The residents would have to pay for the excessive cost of the Olympics. We have a extremely corrupt city and we do not have faith in the powers that be. As far as the jobs are concerned please give me a break. King Daley takes care of his crooked buddies.

im sooooooooo happy that the olypics did not come here. they were going to tear down a lot of stuff us “regular” people like to go. it addition it was only going to provide jobs for a month, after the olympics are over they were going to tear down most of it. taxes, rent all that would’ve shot up! the only people who wanted it were the uneducated and the rich. in addition, when u think about chicago ain’t got shyt on brazil. I mean c’mon people, did u really think that we had a chance? plus chicago is ONLY nice in the downtown part (well the scenery, because the people downtown are nasty little things) but outside of downtown its really not all that. u have a couple of nice areas that are like 2 miles wide, then u walk a block over it gets ugly lol. but anyways lemme stop, i love my city but I HATE my city. glad we did not get the olympics and i hope we never get it
