The woman who confessed to hanging a noose in a University of California-San Diego library issued today an apology in the The Guardian, the school’s student paper.

The woman, who remains anonymous, claims that the act was an unfortunate and inadvertent mistake. She wrote:

I found a small piece of rope on the ground earlier in the day [Tuesday, Feb. 23]. While I was hanging out with my friends a bit later, we tried jump-roping with it and making it into a lasso. My friend then took the rope and tied it into a noose. I innocently marveled at his ability to tie a noose, without thinking of any of its connotations or the current racial climate at UCSD … Three days later, on Friday morning, I found out that the noose had been found and construed as another racist act on campus. I felt so ashamed and embarrassed, and the first thing I did was call the campus police and confess. I was hoping to clarify that this was not an act of racism before the incident got a full reaction from the campus.

SAN DIEGO — An hours-long student takeover of the chancellor’s office at the University of California, San Diego, is over.

Dozens of students stormed the office earlier Friday, angry over several recent racially charged campus incidents.

They occupied the office for several hours before leaving peacefully at sundown, about the same time that leaders of the university’s Black Student Union ended talks with administrators in a nearby conference room. The students presented a list of 32 demands, including more funding for African-American classes and campus activities.

Student leaders told hundreds of supporters outside the chancellor’s office that they were unhappy with the administration’s response and would resume talks with school officials on Monday morning.

University spokesman Jeff Gattas says no arrests were made and no property was damaged during the takeover.

My fellow African Americans and White Americans there is obviously a race problem at Regent University this problem is clearly being raise by some few white students they are testing either the University Policy or the temperance of the their fellow African American peers.

To claim this was an accidental. To confess it was a mistake, blame it on a friend type of attitude is not sufficient. That is the same type of attitude that has always existed. If she had been caught in bed with a black man her defense would have been RAPE what is differnt here nothing.

Regent University should LOSS ALL FEDERAL FUNDING due to it allows DISCRIMINATION on it’s campus as their needs to be a CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT BROUGHT AGAINST THEM. It looks like we need to reform a NEW CIVIL RIGHTS MOVEMENT.

Nothing will change without protest.
