Harlem, New York– President Obama held a fundraiser last night at a recently opened Harlem neighborhood restaurant, Red Rooster;  raising 1.5 million for the Democratic National Committee, and drawing crowds of many neighborhood supporters who hoped to catch a glimpse of the first African-American President.

Among the 50 attendees of the $30,800-a-plate fundraiser, Charles Rangel was in attendance to support Obama’s “unofficial kickoff party” for the 2012 presidential season.  After receiving a standing ovation, the President joked,  “You guys applauding for the corn bread?”.

The President then discussed the  Japan earthquake and the U.S. military action in Libya.
