Supposedly enjoying “a trip of a lifetime,” Violet D’Mello traveled with her husband, Archie (both pictured at bottom), to a South African wildlife park. Unfortunately for Violet, the excursion would turn nearly fatal while she was petting “tame animals,” according to RadarOnline.

The mortifying ordeal began at the Kragga Kamma Game Reserve, when 60-year-old Violet began petting one of the cheetahs, who reportedly began licking his lips. In what was said to last about three minutes, cheetah brothers Monty and Mark sprung in to action, mauling Violet. When a guide tried to pull the cheetah off of Violet, the other 4-year-old cheetah reportedly pinned the British woman to the ground.

The result: Violet nearly lost her eye with the injuries she sustained to her head, stomach, and legs.

An 8-year-old, Camryn Malan, also sustained injuries to her leg from one of the cheetahs biting her leg as she tried to flee.

And what was Archie reportedly doing while his wife almost got eaten alive?

He was taking the displayed pictures and reportedly didn’t try to help even once.

RadarOnline reports:

The startling images…show blood pouring from the woman’s head, arms and legs. The cheetahs are also seen staring at the woman like she was a piece of meat that they were going to devour until there was just a carcass left.

Of the incident, Violet said, “It really came from nowhere and I was totally helpless. The doctor at the hospital said cheetahs usually aim for the stomach area and disembowel their victims, so I was lucky to be alive.”

While everyone present agrees that the incident has left them “traumatized,” Park manager Mike Cantor still insists that the cheetahs were playing:

“I have grown up with these cheetahs and they are not aggressive animals,” Cantor said. “It is almost like they wanted to play with the woman. What happened was that a young girl got a bit uptight and then ran away and the cheetah grabbed her by the leg.”

Right.

Not surprisingly, the petting part of the reserve is under investigation and has been shut down until further notice.
