The 28-year-old disgraced officer will be 103 years old when he is eligible for parole. Pena was convicted of terrorizing and sexually assaulting the teacher, but, oddly enough, was not guilty of raping her.

The panel making the decision on whether to convict on rape was deadlocked on whether or not the teacher was penetrated.

The 25-year-old teacher said Pena destroyed her sense of security and independence. The assault took place on the morning of August 19 when she was heading to school when a drunken Pena asked her for directions to a local train stop. Soon after, Pena dragged her into an alley at gun point and sexually assaulted her.

That morning was suppose to be the teacher’s first day of work.

Pena, with all of the nerve and unmitigated gal of a pure scumbag, asked for forgiveness:

In a last-ditch plea for mercy on Monday, Pena — looking a bit dishevelled with his hair sticking out on the left side of his head — apologized to the victim for what he called “the incident.”

“I’m deeply sorry for my conduct last August and the pain it caused,” he said.

Pena, 28, paused for a moment and then resumed speaking.

“I deserve my punishment,” he said. “I will always carry the shame and burden of my actions. I have no explanation for what happened that day.”

Pena’s lawyer said he was a good cop who did an awful thing. He pleaded for a 10-year sentence, saying he had never been in trouble before.

Cops tend not to have to pay for their abuse of power against the citizens they are responsible for protecting. But, on Monday, Pena got his just deserts. It’s about time a cop was punished for abusing their authority!
