“The whole car pushed the bed all the way in like that”, explained her son, Prince Sawah, bending the headboard forward.  “Basically [pushing the headboard] right over her head.  Actually, when she put her hand up, or looked up, she could basically see the tire right over her head.”

Sawah was sleeping in the nude when the car hit her bed. She rolled over onto the side of the bed, got up and then ran outside screaming for help with any clothing. Neighbors came to her aid soon after Sawah says that a man approached her soon after and asked that she not call the police. She does not know if he was the driver of the car. When police arrived at the scene, a woman reportedly told them that she was the driver of the car that crashed into the apartment.

Here is more on this story:

At first, police believed the woman who said she was the driver.  But when they learned that the victim had been urged by a man (at the time of the accident) to not call authorities, they went back to interview the supposed driver.  She lives in the same building as the victim.

According to a source familiar with the investigation, when detectives entered the apartment of the supposed driver, they found a man hiding in a closet.  Our source says the man has confessed to being the driver (and to being the man who urged the victim to remain silent).  The man is married to the woman who initially claimed to be the driver.  He has told officers that he mistook the accelerator for the brake pedal.

In light of this information, police are reportedly preparing charges for the man. The woman may be charged with making a false statement.
