She is also accused of biting the officers who arrested her. The shop owner of Sassy Beauty Supply shop, Jongyol Lee, says he saw Davis, 38, walking into the store with a juvenile and noticed that a wig was missing from a mannequin.

When Lee double-checked to see how the wig disappeared, he says he saw Davis take the wig and hide it, along with other items. Lee then unsuccessfully tried to trap Davis inside the store. Davis managed to escape from the store with the child and Lee and his 70-year-old father chased after them. Police say Davis punched both men and bit into Lee’s arm, biting a chuck of flesh from his bicep and spitting it in his face.

Here is more on this bizarre story:

When police responded around 3:30 p.m. Davis was “crazed,” in front of the Giaimo Federal Building at 150 Court St., struggled with four federal protective service officers and kicked and swore at New Haven police, police said.

When officers handcuffed Davis, she tried to kick out the window of a police car and was eventually transferred to a windowless prisoner transportation van.

Officers were taken to area hospitals to be evaluated for bites and other injuries sustained during the struggle.

The store owner was taken by ambulance to Yale-New Haven Hospital, where he received treatment for his bite wound and facial injury.

The charges against Davis include the following: sixth-degree larceny, breach of peace in the second degree, criminal mischief in the first degree, assault in the second degree and two counts of assault on police officers.

She appeared in court where her bond was set at $150,000. Davis’ case will continue on July 11.
