Paris, 21, allegedly told police that the two children were playing in the room when she heard a sound that resembled a gun blast. When she and her partner, Darryl Hunter, went to see what happened, they found the 17-month-old shot in the face and arm. Fortunately the baby survived and is being treated at a local hospital.

Hunter, 26, has been charged with accessory to child abuse and possession of a weapon by a previous offender.
The Post has more on this story:

“(Paris) said she didn’t know what happened and who had fired the gunshot,” the statement reports.

Paris purchased a gun in February which she described as a “black .40-caliber Taurus.” The statement said that Paris told police she usually kept the gun in the living room behind the couch, in a case and inside a bag.

Hunter and Paris have been released on $50,000 bond each. They are scheduled to appear in court on Aug. 10.
