Washington Metropolitan police are viewing a recent robbery in the diverse neighborhood of Adams Morgan as a hate crime after a group of black men allegedly robbed a white man in the name of Trayvon Martin.

According to District of Columba police, the man was approached by three males early Saturday morning in the 1700 block of Euclid Street NW. Two of the men pushed him on the ground and kicked him before stripping him of his iPhone and wallet and yelled, “This is for Trayvon Martin.”

The victim, who has not been publicly identified, suffered minor injuries. Police have yet to make any arrests.
