Former Philadelphia Eagles defensive and ESPN’s “Numbers Never Lie” contributor Hugh Douglas (pictured left) was reportedly fired by the sports organization on Tuesday due to an alleged confrontation with the show’s host, Michael Smith (pictured), which led to the spewing of racially charged labels and threats of physical violence, according to TMZ.

The alleged incident between Douglas and Smith reportedly took place earlier this month at an Orlando club, after Douglas reportedly became drunk and began behaving in a disorderly manner. During the fracas, Douglas was said to have threatened to beat up Smith three times. He then allegedly attempted to climb on to a stage, where a DJ was spinning, and allegedly called Douglas an “Uncle Tom” and a “House n*gger” when he allegedly did not help him on to the platform.

Both Douglas and Smith were in Orlando to attend the National Association of Black Journalists Convention and Career Fair.

ESPN was lambasted in the press for referring to the Douglas/Smith incident as an internal matter that they would be “looking in to.”

Why?

Because ESPN promptly fired Eagles wide receiver Riley Cooper, who is White, after he got caught on tape using the N-word at a Kenny Chesney concert last June.

Meanwhile, Douglas tweeted the following statement on his Twitter page to his more than 40,000 followers after he was canned by ESPN:

I am very disappointed to be leaving ESPN and will have more to say about this situation and my future at the appropriate time
