When comedian and actor Tracy Morgan (pictured) suffered extensive bodily injuries last June, after his limo van was slammed in to by a store’s tractor-trailer, it was not revealed that he might have also sustained a brain injury that could possibly bring the curtain down on his high-flying career, according to the New York Post’s Page Six.

The 45-year-old former “30 Rock” star and his entourage left a Delaware gig and were traveling down the New Jersey turnpike when a tractor-trailer truck rear ended their limo van, sending it into a spin. The impact of the accident seriously injured Morgan, his assistant Jeffrey Millea, and friend Ardley Fuqua.

Killed in the accident was fellow comic and years-long friend James “Jimmy Mack” McNair.

The Walmart truck driver, Kevin Roper, whom prosecutors state had not slept “for a period in excess of 24 hours” at the time of the accident, pleaded not guilty to vehicular homicide and assault by auto.

On Tuesday, during a court proceeding, the retailer blamed Morgan for the critical extent of his injures because he was reportedly not wearing a seatbelt when the vehicles collided. Morgan’s attorney, Benedict Morelli, who is also representing Millea and Fuqua in a lawsuit against the retailer, is incensed by Walmart’s defense, telling Page Six, “They’re good blame shifters. I guess that’s how they make $783 billion a year, shifting the blame.” The attorney then went on to vent further, “These people are despicable. They knew that they changed these people’s lives forever and killed somebody.”

According to Morelli, Morgan also sustained a debilitating brain jury during the accident, and when asked if the stand-up comic will ever have a spotlight shine on him on again, the attorney said, “The jury’s still out. The doctors don’t know the answer. I don’t know the answer.”

Morelli reveals that the now-wheelchair-bound Morgan has a difficult road to recovery ahead and could possibly face even more future surgeries; Morgan has to undergo various physical, speech, cognitive, and vocational therapies that are reportedly strenuous on him.

Meanwhile, Morgan released a statement on Tuesday with regards to the Walmart defense telling his fans:

“After I heard what Walmart said in court I felt I had to speak out,” Morgan said in a statement. “I can’t believe Walmart is blaming me for an accident that they caused. My friends and I were doing nothing wrong,” Morgan continued. “I want to thank my fans for sticking with me during this difficult time. I love you all. I’m fighting hard every day to get back.”
