RALEIGH, N.C. –National and state leaders of the NAACP Saturday announced a march to protest what they see as a plan to resegregate Wake County schools.
The march is set for February 12.
At a news conference Saturday morning, NAACP leaders said the new Wake County School Board’s decision to move to neighborhood schools is part of a national trend.
“This gang of four here in Wake County isn’t just trying to tear this county apart,” NAACP President Benjamin Todd Jealous said. “They’re trying to tear this country apart.”
