Georgia Senate Bill 63 expands the requirement for cash bail to more low-level offenses.
On Thursday the California Supreme Court ruled that judges can't keep a criminal defendant in jail over their inability to post bail prior to a trial.
The bill signed into law by Governor J.B. Pritzker highlights the cash bail system which routinely and disproportionately affects Black and brown communities.
