President Obama was elected to clean up a big mess and all eyes were on him as the first Black President. But on top of that, Republicans had met and decided that they would make him a one term President but not playing nice with him at all. However, since the Democrats had control of the house he was able to pass his Stimulus Bill with zero GOP support. He began to push Healthcare which caused even more division. Some of the public began to turn on Obama as progress in Washington began to stall and the disresepect within the wall of congress was displayed during the SOTU when he was yelled at “you lie!”. Yet when he took a safe approach to addressing the racism that Dr. Henry Lewis Gates endured he was critisized for that as well by both black and white. The isolation from both black and white voters from just two years prior was felt during the midterms when a red wave occured. The tea pary was in full effect and although he got a second term — reserach proves race and resentment impacted the way white voters showed out for him 2012.
