As we shared yesterday, Glenn Beck plans to hold “Restoring Honor,” rally on the anniversary date of the “I Have a Dream Speech”. Many view the host’s scheduling as yet another scheme to ruffle the feathers of people in the Black community.

GlennBeck.com describes the rally:

Throughout history America has seen many great leaders and noteworthy citizens change her course. It is through their personal virtues and by their example that we are able to live as a free people. On August 28, come celebrate America by honoring our heroes, our heritage and our future.

Join the Special Operations Warrior Foundation, Glenn Beck, Sarah Palin and many more for this non-political event that pays tribute to America’s service personnel and other upstanding citizens who embody our nation’s founding principles of integrity, truth and honor.

Our freedom is possible only if we remain virtuous. Help us restore the values that founded this great nation. On August, 28th, come join us in our pledge to restore honor at the steps of the Lincoln Memorial in Washington DC.

The rally  is backed by Sarah Palin and is intended to celebrate America’s political history–yet they describe the event as a “non-political event”.  Contrary to the alleged purpose, the rally  appears to be an attack on the Obama administration, with the mission hinting “restoration” of the American political system prior to Obama’s term.

Beck knowing the significance of the date defended his choice to schedule it by saying:

…whites “do not own” the legacy of Abraham Lincoln and, by this logic, “blacks don’t own Martin Luther King,”

Do you believe that Beck is attempting to deface the legacy of Martin Luther King Jr’s speech? Is Beck attempting to undermine the leadership of President Obama?  What is the purpose of the “Restoring Honor” rally?

You be the judge.
