Herbert and Zelmyra Fisher of New Bern, N.C., hold the world record for life in wedded bliss: 85 years. He’s 104, and she’s 101.
On their May 13 anniversary, they will join an elite club: the longest marriages on record. One couple got a big head start on their marriage. You must go back more than 200 years to find the other couple married 86 years.
A Fisher time line: Around their 10th anniversary, this everyday household appliance hit the carpet. When they celebrated their 25th anniversary, this song was a hit (watch videos). When they marked their 50th, this irritating icon was everywhere (see pictures, if you must). By the time they reached their 75th year of marriage, we were hooked on this reality show.

This is wonderful. I love to hear stories like this. I’m sure they have had some trials and tribulations throughout their marriage, but who doesn’t. But it’s good to see that they stayed in it strong. Back then black america had it worse than we do today. So i really do appreciate stories like this one. I wish we can take note from this and learn to try to work through our marriages instead of giving up so easily. Now this is true love. They are just too cute.

i think thats just beautiful to have a bliss marriage like theirs i hope mines last just as long and happy we all need to take some pointers from the older generation marriages they knows what it takes to have a lasting marriages i surely take notes from my own grandparents they have been married for 66 yrs so im taking all the notes i can notes advice and whatever else they contribute

They are from my home town-I really don’t know them personally but,I have heard of people talking about them and how good their life has been. Im glad to see Newsone posted something worth reading and was something good written about someone black.(JMO)
