A one-year-old girl fell victim to senseless violence Tuesday when she was shot in the head by a gunmen in the Southside of Chicago.

The girl was walking with her aunt and the family dog, when two gunmen, between the ages of 16 and 19, targeted a man riding a bicycle, according to reports.

After an eruption of gunfire, the aunt and girl were left curled on the ground, as the shooters fled the scene.

Chicago Police spokesman, Robert Perez, said that the infant “had visible trauma” to her head, when she was rushed to Advocate Trinity Hospital. She was then transferred to Children’s Memorial Hospital to undergo surgery.
