BUCHAREST — US basketball player Chauncey Hardy died on Sunday after being beaten up in a Romanian bar, local media said.
Hardy, 23, died shortly after undergoing surgery in a Bucharest hospital, Mediafax news agency said.
The American had sustained severe head injuries and was in a coma when he was admitted to hospital.
Hardy, who played for CSS Giurgiu, in southern Romania, was celebrating victory over rivals Dinamo Bucharest when several individuals are reported to have attacked him.
