Jordan told sports writer Roland Lazenby, who is writing a book about Jordan:

Kobe’s the only one to have done the work, to deserve comparison.

Jordan has won six NBA championships to Kobe’s five and Jordan averaged 30.1 points during his career while Kobe has averaged 25.3. Kobe has averaged 4.7 assists and 5.3 rebounds per game, while Jordan averaged 5.3 assists and 6.2 rebounds per game. Both players have been named to the NBA All Defensive Team nine times but only Jordan was named Defensive Player Of The Year. Jordan has five NBA MVPs to Kobe’s one and six NBA Finals MVPs to Kobe’s two.
