Instead of ringing in the New Year with cheer, Terry Turner brought it in with Limestone County Alabama sheriff’s investigators. They were in her home trying to piece why anyone would vandalize Terry Turner’s home. The vandals smashed windows and spray painted “MOVE N-WORD NOW!” on her garage, according to WHNT.

Turner is not surprised. She’s lived in the predominantly white area for eight years. In the past, people have driven by while yelling racial slurs at her and her family.

When the most recent racial bias incident occurred, Turner was in a bedroom at the back of the home with her granddaughter when suddenly, she heard repeated crashings. Three windows were smashed with rocks.  Turner dialed 911 immediately, then climbed out a back window with her granddaughter in tow and ran toward the backyard.

Deputies did not find that anyone had broken into Turner’s home.

Despite the latest display of racial bias, Turner is hellbent on staying in her home and insists that no one will drive her out.  Even though hatred has been directed at her, Turner does not harbor ill-will towards anyone.

“I don’t hate whoever did this. I just don’t understand it.  Racism is something that’s taught. When you get two babies in a room, a black baby and a white baby in a room, they don’t know nothing about that until they’re taught,” she told WHNT.
