New census projections have revealed that white children will be outnumbered by children of color in the United States within the next five years. The rise of immigration and a decline in the birthrate amongst whites are all factors that play into this prediction. The projected data shows that by 2020, 50.2 percent of the nation’s children will be minorities. It also shows that by 2044, 50.3 percent of Americans will be people of color. Read more.


7-Month-Old Baby Survives Crash after Being Thrown 25 Feet

A 7-month-old baby who was thrown 25 feet during a car crash has survived. According to reports during the accident, which happened in Harrison Township, Ohio, the baby was strapped into her car seat and only suffered a bruise. “They said her eyes were closed, literally closed and she was face down in the car seat,” said a family member. “When they flipped her over they thought she was dead. Then they said her eyes opened and she started smiling.” Read more.


Cuban Official Says Assata Shakur Won’t Be Extradited

67-year-old former Black Panther Assata Shakur has resided in Cuba ever since she escaped a U.S. prison 36 years ago while serving time for killing a New Jersey State Trooper. When it was revealed that the U.S. would be rekindling their relations with Cuba, many believed Shakur would be sent back to the U.S. According to Gustavo Machin, the deputy director for American affairs at the Cuban Ministry of Foreign Affairs, that’s not the case. “I can say it is off the table,” he said. “There are very serious doubts about that case.” Read more.


Unemployment Lowest In 7 Years

Here’s some good news — the U.S. economy added 295,000 jobs in February, numbers that have ushered in the lowest unemployment rate in seven years. The job surge crushed economist expectations, which predicted 235,000 job gains. According to CNN Money, “it’s the 12th straight month that the economy has gained over 200,000 jobs, and the unemployment rate fell to 5.5 percent,” meaning we’re in pretty good shape. Read more.
