A woman who believed she was 12 weeks pregnant turned out to be six months pregnant when she gave birth to her fourth child in her shower, the New York Daily News reports.
Brittany Young of Des Moines, Iowa says she may have misheard her doctor when she found out she was pregnant in January. While at home last Wednesday, the mother of three says she took a shower to ease her stomach pains and ended up delivering her fourth child.
“I got in the shower, not even five minutes after that, I was like, my stomach is still hurting. Not even five seconds (later), I had to push,” Young said. Soon after, her daughter, Miracle, arrived, weighing 6 pounds, 8 ounces.
A friend who was home called 911 and helped Young with the newborn baby. Police arrived and took Young and Baby Miracle to a local hospital, where they were later released. Mercy Medical Center’s Dr. Michael Cardwell says mothers who have given birth in the past are likely to experience precipitous labor.
Young says she doesn’t have any baby necessities since the birth was a surprise, but plans to get a tattoo of Miracle’s name next to her other three children on her body.
