Details are emerging about the brutal murder of Rebecca Cutler and two of her three children, who died at the hands of a crazed boyfriend. According to statements from the Staten Island District Attorney’s office, Michael Sykes allegedly stabbed the victims a total of 69 times, the New York Daily News reports.

The heinous act took place on Feb. 10 inside a Staten Island hotel when Cutler and her three children, Miracle Cutler, 2, Ziana Cutler, 1, and Maliyah Sykes, 5 months, were attacked. Cutler, a displaced mother, lived in the hotel where the 23-year-old Brooklyn man waited for her inside a hallway. The hotel served as a temporary housing shelter for Cutler and her daughters.

Michael Sykes, 26, of Brooklyn fatally stabbed his girlfriend Rebecca Cutler more than 40 times on Feb. 10, court papers say.

He fatally stabbed 1-year-old Ziana Cutler and 5-month-old Maliyah Sykes nine times each, according to the Staten Island District Attorney’s office.

The youngest child was Sykes’ daughter.

Sykes is scheduled to be arraigned on March 4.
