YONKERS, N.Y. — Yonkers Police say a man was stabbed in the stomach and robbed as he went to check on a bicyclist he believed needed help.

Police say as the Yonkers man approached the man lying on the ground near a bicycle, the “bicyclist” stabbed him. Police said the suspect then told the man to get up and robbed him of $372.

The incident occurred opposite the Yonkers police department on Wednesday afternoon.

The victim required 17 stitches to close an 8-inch cut.

The suspect remains at large.
