The Utah family of a young Black girl who died by suicide last year is suing for $14 million.

In Kenosha, Wisconsin, Jerrel Perez, the father of a 12-year-old Black girl wants prosecutors to charge an off-duty police officer, Shawn Guetschow, who was seen on video pressing his knee into his daughter’s neck while handcuffing her after a school fight.

The family of Nia Whims of Miramar, Fla., is suing Meta, the company that owns Instagram, Renaissance Charter School at Pines, and the Pembroke Pines Police Department after she was arrested and imprisoned for 11 days over an Instagram threat she never made.

Surveillance video shows that at Palm Elementary School, in Ohio's Lorain City School District, a 9-year-old Black girl was made to eat waffles out of the trash can after she threw it away. As a result, a cafeteria worker and principal of the school were fired, and the family is suing.

Minnesota Police are investigating students at Prior Lake High School in Savage, Minnesota after a racist video about a 14-year-old black girl went viral on social media.

A 10-year-old black girl in Utah died by suicide after telling family members that she had been a victim of bullying at her school. Tichenor Cox and the family are taking it upon themselves to try to raise awareness about suicide amongst children and thwart bullying. 

On August 27, eight-year-old Black girl Fanta Bility was killed by police gunfire in Sharon Hill, Pennsylvania, outside of a football game at Academy Park High School. A month and a half later, only one person has been charged with murdering Fanta—a Black teenager who didn't kill anyone.

In January 2020, Honolulu Police arrested a 10-year-old black girl in front of her classmates after a parent called the school to complain about a drawing made by the young girl.
