Boston racism
The president of the Boston Celtics, an NBA franchise long associated with being the whitest team in the league, has abruptly stepped down just one week after making questionable comments on the topic of racism.
There's been a swell of support on social media for Kyrie Irving to press charges against the fan who threw a water bottle at him and narrowly missed in the moments after an NBA playoff game in Boston against the Celtics.
Kyrie Irving’s recent comments about racism in Boston have fans of the NBA’s Celtics resentful despite their adamant refusal to accept the reality that, yes, in case anyone thought otherwise, anti-Black racism is still very much a thing in that city.
Jones commented after the event: "A disrespectful fan threw a bag of peanuts at me. I was called the N-word a handful of times tonight. Thanks. Pretty awesome.''
