Police say a Texas man forced entry into his ex’s Houston home and shot and killed her, her husband, and the couple’s six children — including one boy who was his own son.
David Ray Conley‘s former girlfriend, 40-year-old Valerie Jackson, was handcuffed to the bed along with her husband Dwayne Jackson, 50, before Conley took her life. According to her Facebook page in 2013, Jackson called Conley “the best father of the year,” before ending their relationship and expressing that she was afraid of him.
From the New York Daily News:
The post on her social media read, “My baby, my best friend, my forever. You have always have put me and our kids ahead of yourself And always take care of home! We love you David Ray Conley III!”
“We do not — cannot — fully comprehend the motivation of an individual that would take the lives of so many innocent people. Especially the lives of the youngest,” Harris County Chief Deputy Tim Cannon said Sunday.
Conley admitted to the gruesome murders and was apprehended late Saturday by deputies. The victims are Nathaniel Conley, 13, Honesty Jackson, 11, Dwayne Jackson Jr., 10, Caleb Jackson, 9, Trinity Jackson, 7, and Jonah Jackson, 6.
A deputy discovered the crime scene on Sunday. Officials said Conley entered the home through a window, before handcuffing and shooting each of the victims in the back of the head.
In a crime committed with such rage and premeditation, deputies have retraced the history of Conley and Jackson’s prior relationship. Court documents show the two have had a number of domestic disputes and assaults dating back to 2000. In one incident, Conley was sentenced to five years in prison after he threatened to kill Jackson and her child by wrapping a cord around the baby’s neck.
Conley’s extensive criminal record goes beyond domestic violence incidents with Jackson. He was arrested for car theft, cocaine possession, robbery threats, driving under the influence, and retaliation.
Conley is now in custody at the Harris County jail on capital murder charges for killing the family of eight.
