Spike Lee’s upcoming Chiraq is highly anticipated, and to whet our appetites, the first film trailer has been released.
Based off the Greek play Lysistrata by Aristophanes, Chiraq follows Lysistrata (played by Survivor’s Remorse‘s Teyonah Parris), who gets a band of women together to withhold sex from their men after a child is murdered in Chicago.
In true Spike fashion, Chiraq stars some usual suspects who have appeared in the legendary director’s other joints, like Samuel L. Jackson and Wesley Snipes. It also features Nick Cannon, Dave Chappelle, Jennifer Hudson, and Angela Bassett.
The satire will give us a compelling look at the lengths one will go through to curb violence in one of the country’s most dangerous cities. Peep the trailer up top.
Chiraq hits theaters December 4.
