Lee Daniels Claps Back At Mo'Nique: She Blackballed Herself
Lee Daniels Claps Back At Mo’Nique: ‘She Needs To Shut Up!’
For years, Mo’Nique has been saying that Lee Daniels, Tyler Perry and Oprah Winfrey have ruined her career and participated in her being “blackballed” from Hollywood after they worked together on the film Precious (Lee was the director, Tyler and Winfrey were producers). All three have rarely spoken out about the accusation, but Lee Daniels recently sat down for an interview and didn’t hold back.
In case you missed it, Damon Dash confronted Lee Daniels on video about an alleged two million dollars that is owed to him for the movies Shadowboxer and The Woodsman, both films made before 2009’s Precious. After the clip went viral, the two squashed their beef and Daniels promised he would pay Dash.
After the video was released, Mo’Nique quickly inserted herself in the beef and blasted Tyler Perry by leaking a private call they had. The Oscar winner said on Instagram, “If I’m not lying on Lee Daniels and I’m not lying on Tyler Perry, why ever would I be lying on Oprah Winfrey?” Mo has been slamming Daniels ever since he said in 2015 that she needs to “play ball” in Hollywood. Allegedly, Mo’Nique was originally supposed to play Cookie in Empire, which Daniels denies, but Fox said no because they were weary of her so-called “reputation.” In May of 2017, Mo called out Daniels, Tyler and Oprah, saying, “Y’all could suck my d*ck if I had one!”

On TMZ’s Raq Rants, Daniels said about Mo’Nique, “For her to bad mouth myself, Tyler and Oprah, is disrespectful and it’s wrong. She’s wrong. She’s out of pocket. … It breaks my heart that she feels we blackballed her. No one blackballed her. Mo’Nique blackballed her. For her to continue to talk about Oprah and myself and Tyler is disrespectful. … I don’t understand her motive. I don’t get it. I really don’t.” He continued, “We were really down for Mo. To get that performance from her [in Precious] she had to bare her soul to me. I had to bare my soul to her. That was like making love without having sex.” He added, “She needs to shut up.” See below:
