Ben Carson is a national embarrassment, but that doesn’t bother his Christ-like soul as long as he makes Donald Trump happy. However, the sky might be falling because the wildly unqualified secretary of the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) has publicly disagreed with his president.
Speaking to conservative state lawmakers at the American Legislative Exchange Council, the former surgeon discussed Trump’s horrible immigration policies. According to The Guardian, he said, “We’ve created an amazing country. I mean, where else in the world do you see caravans of people trying to get into the country? Sometimes we should maybe look at the positive aspect of some of the things going on.”
He continued, “One of the things we need to understand in this country is we’re not each other’s enemies and we need to stop allowing people to divide us up and make us think we’re enemies… When we start doing things for people, we need to do things for all of our people. It shouldn’t be some identity group du jour. Every day it should be about everybody and what impacts everybody because we have a diverse society and we can’t allow ourselves to be divided amongst identity groups.”
Trump has morphed the so-called migrant caravan into the ultimate enemy and a talking point to win elections. Therefore, these comments from Carson completely contradict Trump. But, as we all know, Trump’s only Black appointee will never challenge his boss to his face. In addition, Carson needs to take a long look in the mirror. HUD is reportedly a disaster, with the lowest staff levels since 1999, according to a federal watchdog, and he has proposed raising rents on poor families.
Carson is actively working to make life harder for the people who are already here.
